Gara River

I drove home the long way after work today. The late afternoon light  highlighted the trees beside the Gara River. There are a few leaves turning yellow – a reminder that Autumn is here.

Gara homestead
Just downstream from the river crossing, the Gara homestead watches over the landscape, as it has since the late 19th century.

Autumn fungus

Autumn fungus

I spied this fungus at the base of a tree just off one of our regular walking tracks this evening. I loved the variety of textures with the fallen leaves, the tiny green creeper, the tree bark and the smoothness of the fungus. Unfortunately, I’d only taken two photos when the camera battery died – but this one came out okay!
